PRETTY LITTLE WAX AUGUST SUBSCRIPTION BOX

I do love a good waxy subscription box, so I was super excited when one of my favourite wax vendors announced that they were going to lauch a monthly subscription box!

A Pretty Little Wax monthly waxy delivery? Yes please!

So, before I get into the smelly bit, just let me tell you a little bit about this box of waxy loveliness and how the subscription works…..

Firstly, you need to be a member of the Pretty Little Wax Monthly Box Facebook Group. There you can keep up-to-date on everything to do with the monthly box from scent selections to when your payment is due.

For £16 (including P&P) you receive 5 fabby 4x cavity clamshells weighing a minimum of 40g each. Each month features 5 brand new scents, with some months featuring a theme.

The subscription is pay monthly and completely flexible, so you can cancel whenever you wish or even skip a month if you need to.

For the month of August, Lou actually had 4 different boxes to choose from and the theme was “Blends”

I chose the “Fruit Loops” Blends box and I have to say that they all smelt AMAZING!

Here are the 5 Blends included:

RASPBERRY ZING

“Sweet raspberry, toasted coconut, buttercream frosting and freshly baked cake fused with yummy fruit loops”

This literally smelt good enough to eat!! Raspberry Zing and Fruit Loops are both fabulous stand alone scents, so to blend them together, they are a match made in waxy heaven!!

This is a bakery scent lovers waxy dream! Sweet, sugary, cakey and creamy with a lemony cereal kick! Super duper yummy!

LEMON CREAM

“Lemon meringue pie fused with yummy fruit loops”

This one was all about the lemons! The gorgeous aroma of baked pie, lemon custard and lemon zest blended with the sweet and sugary fruit loops really made for a a delicious and yummy strong lemon bakery scent.

STRAWBS AND LOOPS

“Strawberry Bo Bon with yummy fruit loops”

I could really smell the yummy sweet and sugary Strawberry Bon Bon which was mellowed out beautifully by the Fruit Loop citrus cereal notes.

There was also a fabby greenery fresh type note to it aswel, which actually stopped the scent from being overly sweet.

Another delicious match made in waxy heaven!

BERRY BEAUTIFUL

“Blackberry Jam fused with yummy fruit loops”

This smelt absolutely dee-lish! Think sweet and sticky fruity jam with a swirl of citrus cereal yumminess!

GO BANANA LOOPY

“Sweet sugary banana foams fused with yummy fruit loops”

I would never have thought to have put these two scents together, but omg it smelt gorgeous! When it first started to melt I could really smell the sweet and sugary foam bananas, but once it had fully melted, the citrus cereal notes from the fruit loops really came through.

Fruit Loops is one of my favourite scents, so I was super excited to receive this box, and it really didn’t disappoint. Each of the paired scents blended perfectly.

I used my 25w electric Glade warmer to melt these and each of the scents had a fantastic throw. I was super impressed with them all.

So….straight onto the smelly bit…

YULETIDE YOONICORN

“Our unicorns have been grazing on juicy grape and sour berry with lots of leafy greens and sweet vanilla custard this summer. This scent provides joy and happiness, it smells like a picnic on a sunny day”

Ohmygosh! This smelt absolutely amazing! It was fabulously fruity, sour and creamy sweet. I could really pick up on the juicy grape, which also had a yummy a sour twist to it. It had the whole sweet, yet fruity Grape Soda Pop type vibe going on and smelt delicious! I could actually smell a hint of the leafy green element too, which actually gave it a refreshing undertone.

ELF WITH A TWIST

“These elves have ditched the plant pots and rushed back to the workshop for Christmas in July. Our elves with a twist have left a trail of sweet raspberry, blackcurrent and fresh cut grass behind them just in time for a festive release”

As soon as I chopped this melt up, I could smell the yummy fruitiness! It had hardly started to melt and it had my Kitchen smelling like a sweet shop! This scent smelt exactly like a fruity gummy type sweetie, and it wasn’t until it had been melting a while that the fresh cut grass element kicked in, giving it that cool and fresh “twist”

SPICE SLICE

“Zesty citrus peel, sizzling wood fire and all the festive spices. This slice of divine includes Ginger, Thyme and Nutmeg all generously dusted with cheeky cinnamon that will have you drooling. All that cake with none of the calories! Thanks Summer Santa!”

Sugar and spice and all things nice….this smelt like just what Christmas is made of!

This smelt DIVINE!! Definately a must have for the bakery scent lover. It smelt sweet, rich and creamy – just like a delicious (and slightly boozey) Christmas Cake! The spices weren’t at all overpowering and added the perfect amount warmth and depth.

SNOWSHINE

“These gold dusted stockings have a cool, crisp scent that is reminiscent of a snow laden scene with the freshness of mint and juicy orange. We have placed a bouquet of flowers in the mix to counteract the winter eucalyptus. Cederwood, amber and hints of musk round up the fragrance”

This was super duper fresh and exactly what I would expect from a winter type scent. It really was very crisp and nose tinglingly cool thanks to the mint and eucalyptus. The floral notes mixed perfectly with the woodsy tones and rounded this wintery scent off fabulously.

BOOZY SQUISHY JUICY

“The cosy fragrance of mulled wine, spiced apple and orange with cinnamon and clove on a red wine base”

This definately reminded me of Christmas and cosy snuggles by the fire!

It was a warming, spicy and fruity scent and I could really pick up on that boozy mulled wine with a splash of deep red wine. Yummy!

Each melt was beautifully made and I could easily see that a lot of time and love had gone into the making of each one.

I used both my electric Glade and tealight warmers to melt these and every single one had an amazing scent throw and strength!

 

Pretty Little Wax Mystery Box Reveal

I LOVE a good Mystery Box and I’ve been purchasing Mystery Boxes from Pretty Little Wax for a couple of years now and I have to say, they never disappoint!

As always, it came so beautifully packaged and inside were five fabulous scents in all shapes and sizes….

Scent Magnifique Wax Review

Firstly, a warm waxy thank you to the lovely Tara from Scent Magnifique for sending me these lovely wax samples to review.

Ok, so onto the smelly waxy bit……

BLACKBERRY FIZZ

“Blackberry, strawberry and pomegranate with a citrus fizz”

This smelt absolutely AMAZING! It was literally love at first sniff and this scent was the first to go in my warmer. It was a fabulously fruity scent and I loved how I could actually smell the citrus “fizz”

The lime really gave it that zesty edge and complimented the sweet mixed berry and sharp pomegranate notes just perfectly. It was sweet, sharp and fizzy! Delicious! I didn’t need much in my warmer at all, a quarter of the wax pot was more then enough for a strong room filling throw and I got a good 6/7 hours of decent scent from this one piece.

DREAMS

“A dupe of the Unstoppable Dreams – Lavender and Vanilla”

This size snap bar is actually a “sample” bar and is available in a range of scents. At £1.30 per sample, they are a fabby way to try different scents without breaking the bank! I was impressed at the generous size of it too.

I love the Untoppable Dupes that are on offer at the moment. Being a huge Lavender and Vanilla fan, this scent was always going to be a winner for me and I was certainly not disappointed. It was an absolute spot on dupe for the Dreams Unstoppables. I loved the attention to detail with this adorable sample bar too, from the colour to the sprinkling of little stars that just matched the name of the scent perfectly.

Wowsers, this was impressively strong! I only used 2 of the squares in my bedroom warmer and I could smell this beautiful scent all the way downstairs!

MANGO AND PASSIONFRUIT

“The tropical scent of Mango and Passion Fruit”

This was a yummy one – fabulously fruity. It smelt so refreshing and delicious , I just wanted to drink it!! It really reminded me of the smell of a freshly blended exotic fruit smoothie. This one was more subtle in scent strength then Dreams and Blackberry Fizz, but it still held its own and the scent filled my Kitchen perfectly.

All in all a fabulous trio of waxy loveliness that I was very impressed with 😊

🎃 🕸 👻 Pretty Little Wax Halloween Mystery Box Reveal 👻 🕸 🎃

Oh yes, it’s that time of year again! Cue lots of beautiful Halloween inspired wax!

Of course, I had to bag myself a Pretty Little Wax Halloween Mystery Box again this year! Last years was absolutely fabulous, so I had high hopes again for this years and I was certainly not disappointed!

From the Halloween inspired scents and wax shapes, to the beautiful packaging, the attention to detail was just stunning. So, of course, I had to do an unboxing blog and show you each melt in all its gorgeously ghoulish glory!

There were 10 scents in total and here they all are….

 

HANNIBAL, THE SWEET TOOTH CANNIBAL

JELLY BEAN – A burst of luscious fruity tones teasing the senses! Wild cherry balances with ripe peach and tangy strawberry for the candy sensation at the fragrance heart.

SOUR WATERMELON – The aroma of sweet and sour mandarin oranges, pineapples and wild watermelon.

 

FRIDAY NIGHT, CANDY BITE

RASPBERRY LEMONADE – A mouth-watering combination of ice cold lemonade, sweet juicy raspberries with a unique twist of lavender and white musk.

RAINBOW SHERBET – The gorgeous aroma of fresh lime, pineapple, orange and raspberry with creamy base notes of vanilla.

 

GOTHIC GLAM

BLACK LINEN AND AMBER – Unique and very sexy! Beginning with top notes of fresh cotton and crisp ozonic tones, followed by middle notes of white blosdom and base notes of cashmere, amber and musk.

 

GHOULS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN! 

PINK SUGAR – A fruity blend of cotton candy, lemon drops, caramel and raspberry jam on a dry down of musk.

FAIRY DUST – A rich fruity floral signature balances night blooming jasmine with fresh cassis, while hints of ozone create a shimmering effect.

 

CHILDREN OF THE CANDY CORN

CANDY CORN – A warm vanilla candy with top notes of butter with a slight down of almond.

 

THE DEVIL SCENT ME!

FROSTED PUMPKIN – Beginning with top notes of citrusy lemon, leading to middle notes of creamy pumpkin and hints of nutmeg and ginger, sitting on base notes of maple sugar and vanilla frosting.

CINNAMON DOUGHNUT – The rich aroma of fresh crushed cinnamon bark with base notes of baked notes of yellow cake with creamy buttery undertones.

 

A CACKLE IN THE CAULDRON

CHOCOLATE ORCHID – Reminiscent of true chocolate orchids, which smell like a fresh floral with undertones of chocolate! 

 

HALLOWEEN HOWLERS

OPIUM – Reminiscent of a popular ladies perfume.

 

31ST SPOOK STREET

BLACK LICORICE – Strong and true to its name.

PINA COLADA – A tropical combination of sweet pineapple and coconut.

 

THE EXORCISM OF GRANNY SMITH

FLUFFY PINK CANDY – A blend of juicy bubblegum, cotton candy, juicy apples and pear blended together with sugared candy lemon drops.

GREEN APPLE EXPLOSION – A massive, in your face Apple blast, fizzy and zingy!

Ilou Scents Wax Review

Firstly, a warm and waxy thank you to the lovely peeps from Ilou Scents for sending me some of their fabby wax to review.

A small family run wax company based in Scotland, Ilou Scents make a variety of waxy goodness, from Votive and large Candles to Reed Diffusers and Wax Melts. They also offer a personalised candle service to cater for all occasions.

I have to say, I love the simple but effectiveness of their logo and packaging, which compliments their pure white wax just beautifully.

 

Black Raspberry & Peppercorn

“Fruity floral dominated by notes of fresh raspberries and cherries warmed with pink and black peppercorn and intertwined with flora and underscored with creamy musks”

Wow! This scent was absolutely stunning! I could really pick up on the delicious sweet and slightly sour raspberry and ripe juicy cherry notes. The pink peppercorn added a beautiful rose and musk type tone with the black peppercorn adding an interestingly subtle spiciness. It was soft, musky and perfume like.

It filled the room fabulously without overpowering. Perfect!

 

Patchouli & Clove

“A fresh fragrance, with notes of mandarin, cassis, clove, patchouli and mask”

When I first saw this scent, I have to admit, I was a little bit dubious. I’m not really a clove scent fan, so with this scent combo, I really didn’t know what to expect. After a good sniff I was really quite surprised at how much I liked the scent and I actually looked forward to melting it.

When it was melting, I could really pick up on the patchouli, mandarin and cassis, which gave it that subtle fruity yet musky-earthy aroma. The clove rounded the scent off perfectly adding a spicy and warming undertone. It really was a fabulously earthy, woodsy, sweet and slightly spicy medley that would be perfect for Autumn and Winter melting.

This scent didn’t overpower either, it filled the room just perfectly.

 

Rock Salt & Driftwood

“A floral scent with refreshing notes of seaweed and green algae livened by a fresh coastal breeze and enhanced by touches of cyclamen and water lilly. At the base of the fragrance, sparkling salt crusted driftwood is warmed by amber, patchouli and musk”

This smelt absolutely fabulous! It was so freshly floral, breezy and ozonic. It really did make me think of the ocean with its clean, salty and sea weedy tones. I could really smell the rock salt and cool marine notes. Stunning!

Another perfect room filler too.

 

Plum & Rhubarb

“An amazing fruity accord of juicy black plum and fresh rhubarb supported with interludes of ripe pear and sweet peach”

Wow, just wow!! I absolutely adore Rhubarb scents and this certainly didn’t disappoint! It smelt absolutely delicious!

The rhubarb was gorgeously tart with the plum, pear and peach adding a yummy deep and fruity note. This scent was fabulously strong too, it really packed a delicious punch and filled all of my downstairs with ease.

 

I was super impressed with these fabby melts. Just one cube from each clamshell was enough for them to throw their scent fabulously, both in my electric and tea light warmers.

Candle Belle Double Wick Candle Review – Black Cherry Bomb 🍒🍒

Oooo! So Candle Belle have now launched a Candle Subscription for their fabby Twin-Wick and NEW Single-Wick Jar Candles! How fab!

Now as a subscriber to their fabby monthly Mega Melt Subscription Box and having tried a few of their Jar Candles (and being super impressed with them I may add!) I’m super excited for this and the only descision I need to make now is whether to sign up for the single candle or double bundle! Hmmm!

So while I ponder on this, here is a little review of one of their Twin-Wick Jar Candles in Black Cherry Bomb that I shared on my Instagram a while ago (before my blogging days!)

Soooo onto the smelly bit…..

After purchasing some badly behaved candles from a certain big brand a while ago, I’ve since been a bit dubious about buying anymore candles, often prefering to buy wax melts instead. I was so impressed with the Mega Melts Subscription box that I received in March, I decided to take advantage of their 3 candles for £25 offer and Im so glad I did. 

Scent Decsription: A super strong and realistic explosion of luscious black cherries. No question, if you like cherries, you are sure to love this. One of our most popular scents, and not for the faint hearted.

This candle has to be the most well behaved candle Ive burnt in quite sometime! It was an absolute dream! No sooting, no tunneling and a lovely clean burn and fantastic wax pool each time and there was no wax residue left on the sides of the jar either. I was super impressed with this gorgeous smelling candle.

The scent throw was also fabulous, from the first burn to the last. A lovely deep and fruity cherry scent.

Tracey Lee Candle & Melts Review

Ive had a few orders from Tracey Lee Candles & Melts now and Ive always been super impressed with all the scents Ive received.

This is my most recent beautiful order, which also included one of Traceys fabby room sprays. Again, I so impressed with it all that I just had to write a review!

Aswel as a variety of wax melts, Tracey also makes room sprays and reed diffusers. Not only do she make everything you need to keep your home smelling amazing, she also sells yummy bath products too.

JPG Type (Woman) Room Spray

These room sprays are currently £5 a bottle and come in a whole variety of scents.

It came fabulously packaged. I love the simple black bottle with Traceys pretty logo, it all goes together and works so well.

The scent was fabulous, a soft and feminine perfume type scent; “similar in style and identity to a well known ladies perfume – with notes of Rum, Rose, Vanilla, Orchid, Sandalwood and Tonka Bean”

To use; just give the bottle a good old shake and then mist over your soft furnishings i.e curtains, cushions etc.

I sprayed mine in the bedroom, spritzing lightly over the bed covers and curtains. It was really quite strong, so I didn’t need to use a lot, just a few sprays. The scent really lingered too – when I walked back into the room a few hours later I could still really smell it. I also got a lovely waft of scent when I got into bed later on that night.

This was my first try of one of Traceys Room Sprays and I was super duper impressed!

So onto the waxy bit…..

I absolutely love Traceys Wax, especially her Wax Snap Bars. So simple and easy to use, just snap off however much you want to melt and thats that! Not mess, no fuss!

The Ballerina

“It’s girly, it’s bubbly, it’s fruity and floral, and she wears Pink Chiffon”

Wow…just wow! This scent was absolutely beautiful! Sweet, soft and feminine, this is a gorgeous perfume-type scent. Im not 100% sure of what floral notes make this up , but Im sure I can smell jasmine and lily and there is a sweet pear type fruitness to it aswel.

Sparkling Stiletto

“A sweet gourmand delight – The fragrance opens with top notes of sweet ripe strawberries, and mouth watering syrupy mixed fruits before leading into a heart of fuzzy peach and succulent black cherries. Heady white florals cut a dash through the sweet top notes. Base notes include French vanilla pods and caramelised warm amber”

Ohmygosh, this actually smelt good enough to eat…or drink! It really was a yummy and sparkly sweet, fruity explosion! I could really pick up on the sweet strawberries, cherries and peach all mellowed out by the sweet French vanilla.

Strawberry Bliss

“Sheer bliss – A rich, fruity strawberry fragrance enriched by hints of sticky caramalised sugar”

Think Strawberry Bon Bons mixed with Strawberry Laces and this is exactly what this scent reminds me off. Lots of yummy sugary sweetness and fruity ripe strawberries. Absolutely dee-lish!

Traceys wax is just stunning – beautifully strong and very long lasting. I loved the room spray aswel and ill definately be ordering some more.

Pretty Little Wax Easter Mystery Box Review

This Easter themed mystery box was simply beautiful and was filled with 10 oh-so-pretty Easter themed melts and yummy scents.

Now onto my review of four of the fabby melts included….

Easter Bunny Burps

“This vibrant blend of shimmering garden greens is highlighted with a hint of mint for a fresh sensation. A blend of spring flowers is tucked away among the green tones for added texture, while sandalwood creates glowing warmth for the blend. Hints of musk finish this gorgeous fragrance”

Firstly, how adorable is this melt by the way?!? Chunky and super cute, I almost didn’t want to melt it!

The scent was just beautiful, really fresh and cool with a mixed floral undertone. I could really pick up on the fresh garden greens and a swirl of mintiness. The floral notes really did add beautiful texture to the scent, with the sandalwood throwing a little warmth into the mix. An absolutely perfect Spring scent. The scent throw from half of this melt was just fabulous. I popped this in my warmer in the morning and the scent was still going strong later on that night.

7-Up Pound Cake

“This fragrance is a perfect blend of warm cake, almond, lemon, lime, vanilla and sugar”

Ohmygosh! This smelt absolutely divine! A piece of bakery scented heaven all wrapped up in Easter Bunny wax shaped cuteness!

There was a yummy medley of smells going on with this scent. I could really pick up on the warm sponge cake element with the almond, lemon and vanilla. The lime was a subtle undertone and the scent was finished off with a generous sprinkling of sugary sweetness. Deee-lisshh!!!

Again, half of one melt (sorry little wax Bunny for chopping you in half!!) filled the room with its scent fabulously.

Spring Happy

“This fragrance is a classic fougère for men, with bergamot, geranium, lavender, cedarwood and oak”

This scent had fabulous spicy-floral notes. I could really pick up on the greenery of the Geranium and the tang of citrus spice from the bergamot. There was a softness to the scent aswel and a refreshing masculine undertone. Another absolutely perfect scent for Spring. It was gorgeously strong and long lasting too.

Easter Orange Chiffon

“A decadent blend of warm, buttery vanilla pound cake topped with creamy, sweet orange meringue sprinkled with orange zest and toasted hazelnut”

This smelt absolutely delicious – a mouthwatering zesty orange bakery type scent.

I could really pick up on the warm and buttery vanilla pound cake with an orange citrus kick. It was sugary sweet, zesty and creamy with a yummy nutty undertone. Half of this cute egg shaped melt was enough to fill the room with its scent just perfectly. It was fabulously strong!!

I was super impressed with this box of waxy loveliness, from the super cute packaging to the generously sized Easter inspired melts. It was just perfect!
